Adult Classes & Workshops
Classes and workshops are given periodically throughout the year. The Washington, DC area boasts a large number of amateur singers and players who enjoy both classical and traditional music. These workshops change seasonally to spotlight unknown repertoire, teach important skills and introduce topics to help participants play and sing better.
Open to adult amateurs and pre-professionals.
- Christmas Collegium: For amateur musicians (2013-present)
A week of lectures and hands-on classes on topics in early and traditional music for teen and adult instrumentalists and singers. Recent sessions: Balkan music, Machaut, Improvising Baroque ornaments, Songs from the French renaissance theater.
- Tune-Up: For choral groups (2012-present)
Workshop sessions teaching musical skills (music reading/creating blend/section balancing/tuning) to choral groups
- What’s That Note, Inc.: For amateur and professional singers (2000-present)
Teaching musical skills (sight singing/ear training/audition techniques).
- SoundCatcher: Play by Ear (1983-present)
Teaching instrumentalists from all genres to play music by ear—one-day workshops, ongoing class sessions and week-long workshops.
